Miscellaneous Capacitors

This category covers specialty film capacitors that don’t fall under the motor or lighting lines, including Motor Capacitors’ MEA metalized polyester tape-wrapped series, the MEX metalized polyester suppression series, the MPX/CBB62 metalized polypropylene suppression series, and the CBB20 polypropylene frequency-modulation series.

Suppression capacitors, such as the MEX and MPX/CBB62 series, reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI) and noise in electronic circuits. They are commonly placed across power lines or switching components to smooth electrical spikes and help equipment meet electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) regulations.

Self-healing metalized dielectrics isolate and clear small faults automatically, so a minor breakdown doesn’t destroy the capacitor, which improves reliability and lifespan. Non-inductive winding is a construction method that keeps the capacitor performing predictably at higher frequencies.

The CBB20 is a polypropylene frequency-modulation capacitor built with Mylar tape wrapping and epoxy resin end sealing for stability and protection. It is designed for signal, timing, and noise-filtering roles (such as coupling/decoupling, feed-through, bypass, and timing circuit applications in signal processing and electronic equipment).

Polyester (Mylar) film, used in Motor Capacitors’ MEA and MEX series, is compact, economical, and works well for general-purpose and suppression duties. Polypropylene film, used in the MPX/CBB62 and CBB20 series, offers lower losses and better high-frequency and timing stability. The right choice depends on your circuit’s frequency, precision, and stability requirements.
